Moazzam Husain is a strategist and entrepreneur. He has served as Director General, Punjab Board of Investment, the Punjab province’s premier Investment Promotion Agency. Punjab is Pakistan’s largest and most prosperous province. In that capacity he was also Regional Director (South Asia) for WAIPA, the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies.
Moazzam started his career with Unilever where he worked in product management, sales and distribution. He subsequently joined the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group where he served as Head of Marketing for the Bank’s Consumer Banking Business in Pakistan and subsequently as Regional Marketing Manager, East Asia and Pacific region for the cards and electronic payments business for the bank’s international division based out of Melbourne, Australia. More recently he has served as General Manager Marketing with PTCL, Pakistan’s largest Telco, where he was responsible for the company’s Internet and Broadband business.
Currently Moazzam is also serving the Planning Commission of Pakistan and its working groups tasked with developing the country’s strategic Vision 2025 and the 11th Five Year Plan. In addition to a corporate career he has led a start-up as an entrepreneur as well as advised Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in developing a strategy & roadmap to double the country’s exports. More recently he developed a “Go to Market” strategy for Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority under Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior– to market its Homeland Security Solutions in Global Markets.
He holds an MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Middle East Area Studies from the American University in Cairo. In 2007 he was also admitted as an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
